It’s me, Kat—the one behind Simple + Wild! I fell down the rabbit hole of the science of literacy when my youngest son was severely struggling to learn how to read in first grade.

I went back to graduate school and got my masters in reading science. I completed an intensive OG practicum and became a CERI certified structured literacy dyslexia interventionist. I have been working with students for the past 6 years and seriously have so much fun teaching them! I also am an OG practicum supervisor working with educators at the graduate level, guiding them through learning all the steps and routines in an Orton-Gillingham based lesson plan.

In other words, my life has been forever changed and I will NEVER look back.

At the beginning there was no community for me. There was no one who had experienced these struggles and could help me navigate through all the ups and downs, and who could help me answer my thousand questions. That's when I decided to create Simple + Wild…so we could all find each other and learn together!
